Free games for kids aged 8 to 10

Older kids want games that feel like real games, and these do: a kart racer with drifting and boosts, a 3D paper-plane flight over the islands, a 3D meadow run, chess against Mithi at her wisest, physics and logic puzzles, and online Ludo with friends.

Learning comes along for the ride: times tables and maths to 100, real space facts, recycling, and plenty of planning and problem solving.

Questions grown-ups ask

Which games practise times tables?

Maths Adventure has times tables up to 10 × 10, with tips for the tricky ones.

Is there a game that teaches chess?

Yes. Mithi Chess teaches how every piece moves in six short lessons, then Mithi plays at three levels, up to Wise owl, where she plays her very best. Two friends can also play each other on one screen.

Can kids play online with friends?

Yes, in Ludo: start a private room and share its code. Players pick a friendly animal name from a list, so nobody types anything, and there is no chat at all.

Are they free?

Yes, all free with no adverts.
